I need some advice/direction. I am a VERY bored stay-at-home mom. Any ideas for part time work? You’d think it be easy to find, right? Not so.

Here is my situation…

I have to take into account my daughter’s school schedule. Yes, I know, school’s out for summer now, but I still want something that will work with the hours of 8-3. Also, my husband and I are trying to conceive so I don’t want to be on my feet all day.

I am also educated (I taught elem. ed. for 8 years) but am semi-retired right now. I don’t want to go back into teaching- just want something part time.

I have run into nothing but scams when trying to look for stay-at-home jobs. I’m running out of ideas for where to look for part time work. I would waitress because most restaurants hire, but I am horrible at it. I admit it. So much so that I truly value a good waitress. But anyhow…

So… any suggestion on where to find a part time job? Or a stay-at-home one that is not a gimick? Thanks! =)
Apparently I forgot to add this detail…. Health reasons cost me my full time job beforehand (why I’m a stay-at-home mom now), and my doctor recommended that while I am pregnant with the second child to pursue a job that is not on my feet for long periods and/or a part time job (or else the health issues will return). Thanks for any help.

    ok princess, just because you are trying to conceive does not mean you can’t be on your feet all day (how do you think women years ago, even today, do it?!) unless you have health issues, then good luck trying to find a real business you can do at home. i am a sahm that watches kids.. you can have 3 (at least in WI) without the certification.

    I haven’t been able to find any.. maybe you could find a secretary job somewhere part time. I know it’s not work at home, but atleast you won’t be on your feet alot.

    Why not check through your school system if there are any part-time positions available such as working in the office, cafeteria, etc… That way you will have something to do, but still be able to leave when your daughter gets off of school. If that is not something you want to do, then sit down and come up with a list of all your skills/talents/likes and see if there is anything you could possibly do either from home, or just base your business from home. Tutoring is a wonderful part time job that I made good money doing several years ago- I too am a former teacher, now SAHM with 3 children. I was making anywhere from $20-$40 per hour. You do not need certification in any specific subject, although it does look better and you get more clients. There are some great websites for women looking to get ideas for starting their own business- my favorite is bizymoms.com and there are also lots of books on the topic. Good luck- just stay FAR away from any of those internet/computer type jobs.

    With your experience, you should put an ad in Craigslist for mother’s helper or babysitter. I’d love to have someone pick up my son from school, make sure he gets to his afterschool activities and get dinner started. It would be an enormous help and I’d pay good. I’m sure there are other mothers out there who need the same.

    You sound very lazy. Get a full-time job and have your kids in after-school care until you get off of work. ASC is inexpensive.

    Have you ever considered direct sales? I never did until 4 years ago. I have been using Mary Kay products for about 6 year and my consultant told me about the opportunity I honestly was never interested in sales but thought I could get my product half price that interested me. I was amazed and surprised at what I found not only did I make money but I make friendships and gained personal growth I never thought I needed I was having fun !!! I am having a great time because I can work around my family when first started I had a 2 year old and worked a full time job within 5 month I was pregnant and like you I was out on bed rest on off my feet as much as possible toward the end of my pregnancy the doctor took me out of work the amazing thing was I was making money from Mary Kay without working since it is a consumable product people reorder. I love everything about it and I was a true skeptic.

    You can apply for freelance writing, bookkeeping, software, transcription, online tuition or customer service work at home jobs. These companies do not require any fee and pay well . List of companies(with websites) offering genuine work at home jobs is available at . Many of these companies have been in business for several years
